Job Title: Freight Account Manager
Location: Birmingham, AL
Job Type: Full-time
Shift and Schedule: Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
Responsibilities:
- Business Development:
- Contact new shippers through cold calling and industry contacts.
- Arrange meetings with shippers to promote truckload and brokerage services.
- Identify optimal coverage opportunities based on shippers’ needs and areas of interest.
- Prepare presentations showcasing the best coverage options.
- Negotiate rates for new business lanes, including provisions for annual rate increases.
- Contract Management:
- Create contracts for new business agreements.
- Regularly meet with shippers to strengthen relationships and explore growth opportunities.
- Handle additional sales functions as requested by the company.
- Carrier Coordination:
- Communicate with trucking companies to facilitate freight movement from shippers to customers.
- Dispatch carriers for scheduled pickups, track and trace loads, and ensure timely delivery.
- Confirm successful deliveries and address any issues promptly.
- Ensure carriers provide necessary paperwork for invoicing.
- Custom Solutions and Relationship Management:
- Deliver tailored logistics solutions to simplify shippers’ needs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for escalated matters between shippers and carriers.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the transportation industry.
- Proven track record in domestic non-asset sales, particularly in truck brokerage.
- Thorough knowledge of the trucking industry.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
