Thermodynamics Engineer
Security Clearance Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen and either possess or be eligible for a security clearance.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Thermodynamics Engineer to join our cutting-edge pipeline of defense and aerospace talent. This role would focus on designing, analyzing, and optimizing thermal systems for advanced aerospace platforms and defense technologies. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thermal System Design and Analysis:
- Design and optimize thermal management systems for aerospace and defense applications, including propulsion systems, avionics cooling, and high-temperature structures.
- Conduct advanced thermodynamic and heat transfer analyses to ensure system efficiency, reliability, and compliance with mission-critical requirements.
- Utilize computational tools to model and simulate thermal systems for performance validation.
- Integration and Collaboration:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate thermal solutions into broader aerospace and defense systems.
- Ensure that thermal systems meet both operational needs and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and testing teams to transition designs from concept to production.
- Research and Innovation:
- Explore emerging technologies, materials, and techniques to enhance thermal performance and efficiency.
- Develop innovative thermal solutions for advanced aerospace platforms, including hypersonics, UAVs, and space systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and breakthroughs to maintain a competitive edge in thermal system design.
- Testing and Validation:
- Lead or support the testing of thermal systems in laboratory and field environments.
- Analyze test data to refine designs and ensure performance under extreme conditions.
- Document results and provide detailed technical recommendations to stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including MIL-STD and aerospace regulations.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, analysis reports, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain or maintain a Secret or higher security clearance.
- Bachelor’s or Masters' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with a strong focus on thermodynamics.
- 5+ years of experience in thermal system design and analysis, preferably in the defense or aerospace sector.
- Proficiency in tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or MATLAB for thermal and fluid dynamic simulations.
- Expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamic cycles, and high-temperature materials.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
- Advanced degree (PhD) in a relevant field.
- Experience with hypersonic platforms, space systems, or advanced propulsion technologies.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing for thermal components and advanced cooling techniques.
- Knowledge of thermal protection systems for extreme environments.
