Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

- Base Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 + commission + car allowance + benefits
We are seeking a Business Development Manager with a focus on Freight Forwarding to lead initiatives in generating new business and engaging with partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international freight forwarding, including ocean, air, import, and export with both FCL & LCL logistics. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven track record of executing growth strategies.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships within the freight forwarding industry.
- Conduct cold calls to gather information on potential clients’ transport requirements and identify decision-makers.
- Self-generate meetings with potential new customers, either virtually via Teams or through face-to-face interactions.
- Track and record metrics throughout the sales process to inform strategies and achieve sales targets.
- Meet and exceed financial goals by effectively closing deals and expanding the client base.
- Stay informed about industry trends and the competitive landscape to enhance business development efforts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of business experience, preferably in freight forwarding or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively negotiate and build rapport with clients.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple leads and clients efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for creating presentations, reports, and sales tracking.
- Ability to analyze financial data to inform business decisions and strategies.
