Job Title: Assistant Manager
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Manager to support the Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily restaurant operations. This role involves managing both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) activities, including hiring, training, performance management, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, sanitation, and customer service. This position requires a proactive leader who can solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage resources effectively to achieve optimal results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring adherence to company procedures.
- Lead pre-shift and post-shift meetings and communicate effectively with the team.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and stock control.
- Ensure food and beverage items are correctly displayed and stored at appropriate temperatures.
- Implement strategies to enhance revenue and customer satisfaction.
- Manage cash handling, including register operations, deposits, and end-of-day reconciliations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the restaurant, market, and bar areas.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and support career development.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and document any incidents.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to ensure smooth operations and address any service issues.
- Maintain accountability for labour costs, budgets, and financial projections.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent in Hospitality, Business, or Culinary Arts.
- Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience, preferably in full-service restaurants.
- Strong knowledge of marketing techniques and their impact on business outcomes.
- Experience in guest relations, negotiation, and complaint resolution.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead by example.
- High integrity, honesty, and work ethic.
- Ability to work full-time, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Proven coaching and development skills, with the ability to train and delegate effectively.
- Knowledge of safety and food sanitation practices.
- Health Department approved Food Handler Manager Certification.
